The following is a
selected list of studies and repertoire for the college flute major
categorized by freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate
levels. All scales and technical exercises will be taught as listed,
while the list of etudes, and solo repertoire are intended to give only
an estimate of the level and type of music to be learned in each year of
college study. At the beginning of each year one method book will be
assigned to each level, freshman, sophomore, etc. Solos and ensemble
music will be decided collectively by the student and teacher, based on
the student’s pedagogical needs.
